AIM Screen Name
  • Your screen name is your AOL® Instant Messenger™ identity - the name by which you will be known to all your online contacts using the AIM service.
  • Your screen name can be 3 to 16 characters long (using letters, numbers, and spaces)
  • If you already have a screen name for AOL®, AIM, or CompuServe® 2000, then you can use it and your password for your AIM wireless service

Getting Started
  • Launch the navigate mobile Internet browser on your phone
  • Scroll to GET EMAIL/CHAT and select AOL AIM.
  • Enter your AIM screen name and password in the appropriate fields
  • Download the AIM for WAP User Guide to get chatting.
  • Once signed in, a Mobile Device Group is automatically created from your existing Buddy List®
  • The Mobile Device Group are your buddies you can access using your phone

Mobile Device Icon
When you connect to the AIM service from your phone, anyone who is using AIM version 4.8.2646 or higher or AOL® version 7.0 or higher, will see a Mobile Device icon next to your screen name both in their Buddy List® window and in the Instant Messenger window.

This icon lets others know that you are viewing and writing messages using a wireless phone. Your friends will then understand that it may take you longer to type messages, or that your messages may be shorter.

Start sending and receiving text messages. When you're finished chatting, make sure to sign off from your AIM service. If you simply turn your phone off, you will still be signed on to the AIM service.

Web-enabled Wireless Phone
This is a phone that has a microbrowser and the ability to browse the mobile Internet. Please check with Rogers Wireless if you are unsure if your handset has this feature.
