Rejecting Messages

AIM Mobile enables you to control who contacts you. If someone sends you annoying or offensive messages, you can reject further messages from that user while you are signed on to AIM Mobile.

Rejecting messages only rejects messages from a screen name during the current session. The person will be able to send messages again the next time you sign on.

To permanently reject messages from that user, use the Block User feature of AIM Express on any PC. Block User adds the screen name to a permanent global Block List.

A rejected buddy will be displayed with an X next to the screen name on your mobile Buddy ListTM. A blocked buddy name will never be displayed as an Online Buddy on your mobile Buddy ListTM.

NOTE

Currently, only AIM Express affects the "global" Block List. Changes made using AIM desktop only apply to the PC it is installed on.

Rejecting Messages from a User
To prevent a specific user from contacting you, you can reject messages from that user. Highlight the user's screen name in the Conversations or Buddy ListTM, then select MENU.

From the List Menu, select Reject Msgs from buddyname. Select REJCT to reject all messages from the buddyname. Select CANCL to cancel the procedure.

After the user is rejected, an X appears next to their screen name in the Buddy ListTM. A buddy that has been blocked using AIM Express is never displayed.

Re-Accepting Messages from a User
After a user has been rejected, you can re-accept them and begin to receive their messages again.

Select MENU and then select Accept Msgs from buddyname.

Select YES to begin accepting messages from the buddy.

The buddy's status is updated in the Conversations and Buddy ListTM.

TIP A rejected buddy is automatically re-accepted when you send them a new message.
