Composing the Message
The buddy's name is shown at the beginning of the conversation. Select REPLY to begin typing a message. The available text input modes commonly include the following:

  • Multi-tap (usually indicated as alpha/ALPHA or abc/ABC)
  • T9 Text Input (often indicated as T9, Quick, Word, etc.)
  • SYMBOLS (usually indicated as SYM)
  • NUMBERS (usually indicated as NUM)

Select the appropriate input mode before you start typing. Most phones default to the multi-tap mode. For typing text messages, T9® Text Input is twice as fast as multi-tapping. To correct errors, press the CLEAR or BACK key. Click here for more information on Typing Messages.

You also can select a Quick Reply from the collection of smileys, greetings and common phrases used to coordinate activities with other people. To choose a Quick Reply, press the DOWN arrow to highlight the [Quick Reply] link, and then select QUICK. If the message is long, you may have to press the DOWN arrow several times to display and highlight the [QUICK REPLY] link. After you select a reply, you can continue typing text in the message. Click here for more information on using a Quick Reply.

After the message is composed, select SEND to send the message.

Your message is saved under the buddy name and indicated by the "<" left facing pointer.

You can send another message to the buddy by selecting REPLY. To display the Conversations Menu, select MENU.
