Sending a Message using a Phone Book Entry
To send a message to a buddy or to an AIM command stored in your phone book, complete the following steps:
- Open a new text message and type your message using your phone's keypad.
- Send the message to the phone book entry for your buddy or the AIM command. See your phone's documentation for specific information on sending messages using you phone book.
Sending a Message Using a Known IM Number
To send a message to a buddy using their IM number, complete the following steps:
- Address a new message to your buddy's IM number.
- Compose a new message using your phone's Short Message Service application and send it.
Sending a Message to an Unlisted AIM User
To start a conversation with an unlisted screen name, complete the following steps:
- Address a new message to the AIM-SendTo command [4654].
- In the message body, type your message using the format screenname (colon) message. (Note: If the screenname contains spaces, ignore them and type the name as one word. For example, "i scream dog" would be typed as "iscreamdog.")
Here is an example of a valid message: "iscreamdog: hello".
- Send the message to the AIM-Unlisted phone book entry.
Replying to a Message from an Unlisted AIM User
To reply to a message from an unlisted AIM user, complete the following steps:
- Use the Reply function on your phone to respond to the message. This is the easiest way to respond because the message is already addressed to the recipient's temporary IM number.
- Type your response and send the message, as documented for your phone.
